What to Do With Old Gear in AION 2: Keep, Transfer, Sync, or Extract

Use a conservative decision tree before destroying old equipment that may still have transfer, Sync, trade, request, or appearance value.

Quick answer

Do not immediately extract every upgrade. First check whether the item is equipped in another set, enhanced, usable for enhancement transfer or Soul Sync, eligible for a Supply Request, tradable, or missing from your Closet. Global players consistently warn that Unique (gold) gear can retain late-game value. Because NC has not published a complete English disposal rulebook, confirm the previewed result in the live UI before committing an item.

Old-gear decision tree

  1. Equipped elsewhere? Check alternate gear sets and planned alts.
  2. Enhanced or valuable stats? Inspect the Transfer preview before doing anything irreversible.
  3. Unique/gold? Keep it until you understand Sync, Transfer Stones and potential rerolls.
  4. Requested? Check Supply Requests.
  5. Tradable? Compare market value with extraction value.
  6. Appearance missing? Inspect the extraction preview and displayed chance.
  7. Extract only after every higher-value use is ruled out.

Why Unique gear needs care

Recent Global players consistently report using unwanted Unique gear or materials made from it for enhancement transfer, Soul Sync or stat rerolls. They also warn that a wrong transfer direction can overwrite an enhancement. Those details are community evidence, not a complete official rules document, so the live confirmation screen is the final authority.

When extraction makes sense

Extraction can return enhancement materials and may unlock an appearance. Player reports show that appearance success is not guaranteed for every item and that the UI displays a percentage in the extraction details. Lower-rarity leftovers with no request, trade, transfer or build use are more natural candidates than an upgraded Unique item.

Avoid irreversible mistakes

  • Read the source and destination labels in a transfer preview twice.
  • Do not assume the higher enhancement will always survive.
  • Do not delete an item merely because a merchant will not buy it.
  • Lock valuable equipment if the client offers that option.

How this guide was checked

Checked on October 20, 2026 against NC's global AION 2 site, dated NC press releases and the Steam listing. An announcement for the earlier live service is not treated as proof of current global availability. Player reports are used only for observations that NC has not documented and are not presented as official mechanics.
