Hood Warfare 2 Game Modes Explained
All six Hood Warfare 2 modes explained in the developer's own words: Turf War, GangBang, Chaos, Hit A Lick, Destroy The Block and Chain Snatch.
Applies to: The six modes in Hood Warfare 2 as defined by the developer, checked on October 14, 2026
Quick answer
Hood Warfare 2 ships with six modes. Turf War is an area-control mode where gangs score for the turf they hold; GangBang is team deathmatch; Chaos is free-for-all; Hit A Lick is a bag-capture mode; Destroy The Block is a one-life plant-and-defuse mode; and Chain Snatch scores by collecting chains dropped by killed players. Those descriptions are the developer's own, and parts of the press describe the same modes differently.

The six modes at a glance
Hood Warfare 2 has exactly six modes. Four of them are named on screen in the official launch trailer as well as on the store page, so the names below are confirmed twice over by first-party material.
| Mode | Type | Objective |
|---|---|---|
| Turf War | Objective, teams | Hold territory and score for ground your gang controls |
| GangBang | Team deathmatch | Most kills wins |
| Chaos | Free-for-all | Most kills wins, with no teams |
| Hit A Lick | Objective, capture the flag style | Take the enemy's bag and return it to your own turf |
| Destroy The Block | Objective, one life | Plant or defuse the bomb |
| Chain Snatch | Objective, pickups | Collect dropped chains to score |
Official definitions
The descriptions below are quoted from the developer's own store description.
- Turf War. "Gangs fight for control of turf around the map. Earn points for the territory your gang holds, and push the other team off theirs."
- GangBang. "A classic team shootout. Two gangs go head-to-head, and the gang with the most kills wins."
- Chaos. "Every man for himself. There is no loyalty to a gang in this mode. Get the most kills to come out on top."
- Hit A Lick. "Take the bag from the enemy's hood and bring it back to yours. Keep an eye on your own bag while your crew goes after theirs."
- Destroy The Block. "One gang has the bomb. The other has to stop them. Plant or defuse to win, with only one life per round."
- Chain Snatch. "Getting the kill is only half the job. Snatch the chains enemies drop to earn points, and collect your teammates' chains before the other gang gets them."
These are concept descriptions. The developer has not published scoring values, round timers or team sizes for any of them, and nothing on this page fills those gaps.
How they map to familiar modes
If you have played other shooters, it helps to know what each mode is closest to. The comparisons below are this site's own, and the developer has not used these terms.
| Mode | Closest familiar equivalent | Where the comparison breaks down |
|---|---|---|
| Turf War | Domination-style area control | The developer describes territory ownership rather than discrete capture points, so the scoring model may not be point-capture. |
| GangBang | Team deathmatch | No meaningful difference in the description. |
| Chaos | Free-for-all | No teams at all, so squad tactics do not apply. |
| Hit A Lick | Capture the flag | Judging by the wording, both sides carry a bag, so you defend your own while attacking theirs. |
| Destroy The Block | Search and Destroy | One life per round, which makes it the most punishing mode in the list. |
| Chain Snatch | Kill-confirmed pickups | Scoring comes from collecting drops, including your own team-mates' chains, rather than from a confirm mechanic. |
Where coverage differs
Because the modes are unusual enough to need explaining, outlets paraphrase them — and some paraphrases do not match the developer's wording.
- Chaos. Several summaries file it under "deathmatch", but the developer's description is explicitly free-for-all: "Every man for himself." Those are different things, and the distinction matters if you are deciding whether to queue solo.
- Destroy The Block. Often described as bomb-defusal without mentioning that it is one life per round. That detail changes how the mode plays considerably.
- Hit A Lick. Sometimes reduced to "capture the flag", leaving out that both teams have a bag to defend at the same time.
Modes players ask for
Players in the official Steam discussions regularly frame requests in terms of modes from other shooters, asking for additions modelled on classic team and objective modes. These requests are useful as a signal of what people want, but none of them has been announced or implemented. There is currently no playlist beyond the six modes listed above.
What is not published
To be explicit about the limits of this page, the following are not stated anywhere official as of October 14, 2026:
- Scoring values for any mode, including the point value of a territory, a kill or a chain.
- Round or match time limits, and whether they can be adjusted.
- Team sizes, and whether they differ between modes.
- Whether any mode has a ranked or competitive variant.
Sources and review scope
- Steam store listing — source of every quoted mode definition in the official-definitions section, and of the six-mode count.
- Official Hood Warfare 2 launch trailer, embedded on the Steam store page — four mode names appear as on-screen text (TURF WAR, CHAIN SNATCH, HIT A LICK, DESTROY THE BLOCK), which corroborates the store descriptions independently.
- Steam community discussions — used for the player-requested modes, which are described as requests and not as features.
The official definitions are quoted verbatim and the mode names come from the store page. The "familiar equivalents" table is editorial analogy and is labelled as such; it is not the developer's terminology and should not be quoted as if it were. Where press summaries differ from the store description, the store description is used.
