Rem in Deadlock: Abilities, Tag Along and Helper Mechanics

How Rem uses Pillow Toss, Tag Along, Lil Helpers and Naptime to heal, reposition, handle chores and set up team fights.

Quick answer

Rem joined Deadlock on January 26, 2026 as a support and disruption hero. Pillow Toss knocks enemies back and reduces other cooldowns on hit; Tag Along attaches him to an ally and heals them; Lil Helpers assist heroes, Troopers and map chores; and Naptime applies wide-area sleep control. His value comes from moving support around the map, not from a single damage combo.

Support role

Rem joined Deadlock on January 26, 2026. His kit moves support between allies, lane units and team fights: knock an enemy away, attach to a teammate, send helpers to useful work, then use wide sleep control when the team can follow.

Pillow Toss

Pillow Toss knocks enemies back. Hitting an enemy also reduces Rem's other cooldowns, linking a simple displacement tool to the rest of his support cycle. Aim it where the knockback changes the fight rather than using it only for damage.

Tag Along

Tag Along attaches Rem to an allied hero, heals them and makes Rem untargetable while attached. The ally controls the resulting movement, so attach when their route helps both players. Detach or avoid attaching if the ally is entering a position that removes your next useful angle.

Lil Helpers

Lil Helpers can support more than direct hero combat. Their possible jobs make the ability a map-management tool.

Allied TrooperSupport lane pressure.Use when maintaining the wave matters more than following a hero.
Crates and map choresHandle repeatable utility work.Use during lower-risk windows instead of abandoning a live fight.

Naptime

Naptime applies sleep in a wide area. Sleep is most valuable when allies know which target to isolate and when damage will wake or interrupt the setup. Use the cast to create a coordinated opening or escape, not as an automatic team-fight win.

A practical support loop

  1. Keep sight of an ally who can carry Tag Along to the part of the map that needs support.
  2. Use Pillow Toss to protect space and earn cooldown reduction through a hit.
  3. Assign Lil Helpers only after deciding whether the team fight, lane or map chore has priority.
  4. Hold Naptime for a moment when allies can use the sleep window or when disengaging prevents a larger loss.

Official 2026 changes

Valve continued adjusting Rem after release, including a January 30 update and later June 30 and September 16 changes. Those posts show that helper behaviour, cooldowns and support output are still live balance targets. This page therefore explains functions without freezing a full table of values from different versions.

Interaction risks

Test utility interactions in the current build. Helper pathing, shop tasks, attach behaviour and crowd-control timing can produce edge cases that a short official description does not cover. Community documentation is useful for discovering those cases, but the current client decides them.

Sources and review scope

Checked October 16, 2026. Valve sources establish the kit and dated changes; the community source is clearly separated and used only for interaction detail.

How this guide was checked

The source set was checked on October 16, 2026 against Valve's Steam listing, official Deadlock forum, City Never Sleeps page, changelog and Steam announcements; the live roster and news timeline were rechecked on October 17 after Violet became playable. Clearly labelled third-party sources are used only where Valve does not publish a complete beginner rules page or exhaustive interaction reference. Deadlock is still in development, so roster, rules, mechanics and access conditions must be rechecked after major updates.
