Quick answer

Season 2 cut the XP required at every level from 10 to 50, with the deepest cut at level 20 where 250,000 became 111,500 — 55% faster. Level 30 dropped from 500,000 to 318,200, level 35 from 750,000 to 525,000, and level 50 from 1,500,000 to 1,150,000. There are seven tracks: an account-wide WARDOG track plus six role tracks for Assault, Medic, Recon, Support, Pilot and Driver, which is why the developer once said six — that figure counted roles only. The Gold Market sits at WARDOG level 35 for $150,000 and the Lonestar-only music tape at level 29. The Vault appears once in official material, as a metagame item still being built, with no details published. No XP-per-hour rate exists in any official source.

At a glance

Season 2 cut the XP required at every level from 10 to 50, and the cut is deepest in the middle of the curve — which is exactly where most players were stuck. The developer's own framing: "Levels 10 to 20 were a slow grind, and many players stalled out before unlocking the gear that defines each role. Reaching level 20 now takes less than half the playtime it did in Season 1."

451,225,000920,85025%
501,500,0001,150,00023%
This is one curve, not seven. The developer publishes a single total-XP-per-level table, not a separate table per role track. There is no official statement that the WARDOG track and the six role tracks share this curve, and no official per-track thresholds exist. This page therefore gives you one table and says so, rather than splitting one dataset into seven headings to look more complete.

The tracks: six roles plus one account track

The count depends on how you ask, and the confusion comes from the developer's own wording changing between announcements. The Top Questions announcement from February 18, 2026 says players "earn XP across 6 progression tracks". The Season 2 patch notes then document seven sections: a WARDOG track plus Assault, Medic, Recon, Support, Pilot and Driver.

How the tracks relate to each other
TrackScopeWhat it unlocks
WARDOGAccount-wideShared gear, supply pallets, pistols, optics, the Gold Market
AssaultRoleAssault rifles, C4, breaching tools, the new Molotov
MedicRoleSMGs, medical items, the Medical Bag
ReconRoleSnipers and DMRs, ghillie suits, the new M14
SupportRoleLMGs, launchers, the new Evo-3 Ultra, drill rigs
PilotRoleHelicopters, aircraft weapons
DriverRoleGround vehicles, the new Wolf-110 and both new tanks

Read the two sources together and there is no contradiction: six role tracks, plus one account track. The distinction matters practically because WARDOG track progress is not tied to what you play — the Gold Market sits at WARDOG level 35, so grinding a single role will not open it.

One clarification the developer offers directly, and it is not what most players assume: "Roles are totally player-defined." There is no class lock. You buy specialist items and build a loadout; the role tracks are progression lines, not jobs you queue for.

What the curve change actually did

The percentages in the table above are the developer's, printed beside the raw figures. Three observations follow from the numbers themselves, which anyone can check by subtraction:

  • The cut is deepest at level 20 (55%). That is a deliberate response to players stalling before their role's defining gear, and the patch notes say so.
  • The cut shrinks as levels rise. By level 50 it is 23%. The shape is not a flat reduction — the mid-game got much faster and the endgame got moderately faster.
  • Level 50 still needs 1,150,000 total XP. Even after a 23% cut, that is 46 times the level-10 threshold. The curve is flatter than it was, not flat.

One detail worth knowing if you have read an older guide: Season 1's thresholds had themselves been raised shortly before launch. The pre-load changelog of September 9, 2026 moved level 10 from 25,000 to 35,000 (described by the developer as 40.0% slower) and level 15 from 54,750 to 110,000 (100.9% slower). Season 2 then moved both back down to those earlier values. So the "new" numbers at levels 10 and 15 are not new at all — they are the pre-launch figures restored, which is why the percentage improvements at those levels look so large.

Where unlocks moved

Season 2 reshuffled attachments and weapons between tracks as well as along them. The full list in the patch notes runs to well over a hundred lines, so this table gives the moves that change what you can reach early rather than reproducing all of them.

Representative unlock moves in Season 2, from the patch notes
ItemChange
JudgeWARDOG 18 → 1; unlock $15k → $5k
Kobra ReflexWARDOG 21 → 4
AK74 + 30 RND magazineNow unlocked by default (was Assault 3, $10k)
T-21Now costs Assault 3, $10k (was default)
MP5Medic 15 → 4; unlock $75k → $25k
Medical BagMedic 24 → 14; unlock $75k → $50k
PKMSupport 30 → 15; unlock $150k → $100k
M249Support 15 → 20; unlock $100k → $150k
BMR-308Recon 30 → 20
Little Bird AH-6M [Miniguns]Pilot 4 → 8; unlock $50k → $125k
SPH-2Moved from WARDOG 90 to Driver 31; unlock $500k → $350k
Level 3 Helmet & ArmorWARDOG 60 → 70

The pattern is a ladder reshuffle rather than a pure giveaway: several mid-tier items moved much earlier, and a few moved later to compensate. The AK74 and T-21 effectively swapped places at the bottom of the Assault track, and the M249 and PKM swapped at Support. The Little Bird's minigun variant was moved later and made 2.5x more expensive to unlock, which the notes explain as being "too strong for how early it unlocked".

The gates people actually search for

Named progression gates confirmed in Season 2
UnlockTrack and levelCost
Gold MarketWARDOG 35$150,000
Music Tape "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" — Lonestar onlyWARDOG 29$25,000
Compact P-1 Red DotWARDOG 21$12,500
Music Tape "Dyshat'"Driver 33$25,000

The Gold Market gate is the one with real consequences, because it is the only route to cosmetic unlocks and it requires 525,000 total XP plus $150,000 in cash. Since cash persists between matches, the cash half is a saving problem rather than a levelling one; the XP half is the long part.

The Vault: what is actually known

"Vault" appears in exactly one official document reviewed for this page, and the sentence is a bullet point in a list of things to be built during Early Access.

The complete official reference, from "Early Access & Beyond", April 7, 2026: "On top of our core mode, throughout Early Access, we are building a robust metagame, including: The Black Market & Vault · Player Skills & Challenge System" — followed by "The foundation of this Metagame is designed, but we will be building it throughout Early Access."

That is the entire published record. No announcement describes what the Vault stores, how it is accessed, what it costs, or when it arrives. The word is also ambiguous in English — a vault can be a secure storage container or a shop — and nothing in the official text disambiguates it.

Two things can be said with confidence. First, it is grouped with "The Black Market", which places it in the metagame layer rather than in-match. Second, the April announcement frames the whole metagame as still being built, so the absence of detail is not a lapse but the actual state of the project.

What this page will not do with "Vault". Every explanation of the Vault currently online is an inference from the word plus the expectation that a shooter needs a loot box or a storage system. Those inferences contradict each other, which is a good sign none of them is sourced. If the feature ships, the announcement will say what it is; until then, this page reports one bullet point and stops.

Level-up speed: no official numbers exist

The patch notes tell you the XP required. They do not tell you how fast anyone earns it, and that gap is where most progression guides quietly invent things.

  • No XP-per-action table is published. The Season 2 notes give cash and XP rewards for specific actions — FOB hacking $1,000/250 XP to nearby teammates, door breaches $100, logistics streaks, vehicle destruction — but no consolidated per-minute or per-match rate.
  • No average match length is published, so even a known reward per action could not be converted into XP per hour.
  • XP assignment changed between tracks. Destroying a buildable now gives assault XP instead of support, artillery gives driver XP, and repair XP splits between driver and pilot depending on the vehicle. Any rate guide written before Season 2 is measuring a different reward map.

So the useful answer to "how do I level Recon fast" is structural rather than numerical: check which actions now feed the track you want, because several of them moved in Season 2. Repairing a helicopter feeds Pilot; repairing a tank feeds Driver. Destroying a buildable feeds Assault. Those assignments are official and they are more actionable than a claimed XP-per-hour figure.

Sources and review scope

The XP table is reproduced exactly as published, including level 25's 206,600 — the developer's own figure. Where an unlock list in the patch notes runs to dozens of lines, this page quotes a representative subset and says so rather than presenting a partial list as complete. No level-up rate, XP-per-hour figure or "fastest way to level" claim appears here: none of those can be derived from official data, and this site has not played the build.

How this guide was checked

Checked on October 19, 2026 against the Steam store listing and the Steam Web API for app 1867240, the developer's own Steam announcements including the Season 2 patch notes dated October 14, 2026, the current-player and achievement endpoints, the public review endpoint, and the four policy pages published on wardogs.com. Figures are quoted from those sources rather than paraphrased, and each one carries the date it was read. Where a detail comes from a press report, a third-party site or a player post rather than from BULKHEAD or Team17, it is labelled as exactly that. Anything the developer has not stated is written as unconfirmed rather than guessed.
