Quick answer

The published battle overview describes a turn-based timeline, exploiting enemy weaknesses to fill a Stagger Gauge, and gaining an Extra Phase after staggering. Visions provide abilities, and Resonance attacks can trigger after a successful stagger sequence. Espers join for three turns, with a finishing move on their final turn, according to PlayStation’s explainer.

Turn order and timeline

The PlayStation battle overview describes a timeline that shows upcoming actions for allies and enemies, with turns progressing from left to right. Use the displayed order to see which action is next; the available source does not publish frame timing or a formula for turn manipulation.

Weaknesses and stagger

Enemy HP is accompanied by a Stagger Gauge. The official explanation says exploiting weaknesses reduces the gauge; when it is emptied, the enemy is staggered, cannot act on its turn, and has lower defense. No damage multipliers or exact weakness values are published in the source.

Extra Phase and Resonance

A stagger can create an Extra Phase with additional actions. Sweeping stagger sequences can lead to a Vision-specific Resonance attack at the end of that phase. The official overview says Resonance forms vary, including direct damage, area effects, and other effects. The exact trigger and action limits should be confirmed through gameplay.

Visions and abilities

Visions grant abilities that can be unlocked through battle use. Learned skills can be equipped alongside a different active Vision when their combined cost stays within the applicable limit. This enables customization, but there is no independently tested optimal setup in this guide.

Espers

PlayStation’s official overview says Espers are unlocked through story and side quests, fight alongside the party for three turns, and perform a finishing move on their final turn. The sources linked here do not enumerate every Esper, unlock quest, or exact effect.
