Dragon's Dogma 2 romance and Affinity — how relationships work
Raise Affinity with gifts and quests, recognize the visible signals and understand the difference between authored scenes and the broader beloved system.
Applies to: Base-game Affinity system · Dark Arisen NPC behavior unverified
Quick answer
Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a broad Affinity system for many NPCs and prominent relationship scenes in specific questlines, especially Ulrika and Wilhelmina. Complete an NPC’s quests, give gifts matching preferences in History → NPC Logbook and look for red-cheek blush at high Affinity. High Affinity alone does not create a fully authored romance route for every NPC, and the ending’s beloved selection can be affected by hidden ordering or tie-break behavior.

System boundary: Affinity applies broadly; authored romantic scenes belong to specific questlines. Calling every high-Affinity NPC a full romance route would overstate the game.
Romance scenes and Affinity are related, but different
Affinity
Many NPCs can gain affection through quests, escorts and gifts. It can change greetings, gifts, discounts and which character the story treats as beloved.
Authored routes
Ulrika and Wilhelmina have prominent quest conclusions commonly described as romance scenes. Their required quests and timing matter beyond a generic gift total.
Raise Affinity deliberately
- Open History → NPC Logbook and check the NPC’s listed gift preferences.
- Complete that character’s quests and optional escort requests.
- Use the Give Gift prompt during conversation when available.
- Allow time between repeated gifts; PowerPyx’s trophy route uses a rest between high-value gifts.
PowerPyx trophy roadmap · Checked October 15, 2026 supports the Logbook, gifting and quest methods. Its Wyrmslife Crystal routine is a guide strategy, not an official exact percentage formula.
How to check progress
Red-cheek blush is the clearest guide-reported high-Affinity signal. NPCs may also leave gifts or seek an escort. The interface does not expose a precise numeric meter, so avoid claiming an exact value from one reaction.
Major relationship questlines
- Ulrika: the chain through Readvent of Calamity and Home Is Where the Hearth Is leads to a reported nighttime meeting in Harve. Walkthrough · Checked October 15, 2026.
- Wilhelmina: Every Rose Has Its Thorn is time-sensitive and choice-dependent. Follow its evidence and delivery steps rather than relying on gifts alone. Walkthrough · Checked October 15, 2026.
Beloved selection caveats
High Affinity can influence whom the dragon presents near the ending, but the reviewed guides do not establish every hidden tie-break rule. If a specific outcome matters, prioritize that NPC’s quest late, avoid raising many candidates equally and make a current-slot save before endgame decisions. Dark Arisen NPC relationship effects remain unverified here.
