Quick answer

Enable automatic startup in the app’s General settings. For game-specific behavior, use Performance settings; the official command-line page documents pause and stop controls.

Enable startup

In Wallpaper Engine, open Settings → General and enable automatic startup. If labels differ, use the current in-app General settings.

Startup priority

The official help page describes a high-priority mode that registers a Windows service and starts wallpapers before other startup programs. It warns this mode is less reliable and antivirus may block it. If startup fails, try normal priority and check security software.

Pause and stop

Pause playback when you want to keep the wallpaper configured but stop animation; Stop is a stronger documented control. The official command line page lists -control pause and -control stop. This guide does not infer a universal close or tray behavior.

For game-specific behavior, see performance settings.
