Eight races is not the current count

Future scope and current availability answer different questions; only Human, Elf and Minotaur belong in a current selection table until a new official update expands it.
The same distinction applies to classes: the complete-game description mentions six, but the current Early Access set is Brawler, Mage and Shadow.
Race is one layer of the character
Race and class combine into an Archetype with its own skill tree and playstyle. That creates nine current pairings before attributes, equipment and spellbooks are considered. Narrative identity alone should not be converted into a mechanical bonus or tier rank.
