Quick answer

Belmont's Curse is set in Paris in 1499, twenty-three years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. You play Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades, who carries Dracula's curse in her right arm. KONAMI's official character page names the main cast and bosses and lists their voice actors. On the question that keeps coming up: the game follows the same family line as the Netflix animated series but shares no story continuity with it, and Konami and Evil Empire have not presented it as an adaptation of the show.

Setting and timeline

The pitch KONAMI uses is a Paris engulfed by monsters with a castle looming over it. Trevor Belmont, the hero who defeated Dracula, travels into the burning streets with his daughter Rose, and they are separated early — Trevor goes after the clergy while Rose works through the city. Rose carries Dracula's curse in her right arm. The game's framing is the growth of Rose as a hunter, alongside her father rather than instead of him.

KONAMI's own descriptions are worth reading closely for two of them. Isaac is "a devil forgemaster who creates and commands demons" with a history with Trevor going back twenty years, and Death is Dracula's right-hand man. Both connect this game to earlier Castlevania entries rather than restarting the lore.

Its link to Dracula's Curse

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse is the anchor. Belmont's Curse takes place twenty-three years after it, drops you into the next generation of the same family, and reuses characters and references from the series rather than rebooting them. If you know Trevor and Sypha from the older game, this is their household a generation on — not a retelling of their story.

The Netflix connection

This is the question that causes the most confusion, so it is worth being precise. Rose's parents — Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades — are the leads of the Netflix animated Castlevania series. Belmont's Curse picks up one generation later in the same family line. But the game and the show are separate stories: Konami and Evil Empire have not presented the game as continuing the show's plot, and the game's own characters and events are not the show's. "Same bloodline, different story" is the accurate summary.

What is not confirmed

  • Speculation about a returning non-canon character. Fans have discussed whether a character resembling Sonia Belmont — a series character set aside from canon long ago — appears. KONAMI's character page does not name her, so this is speculation rather than a confirmed return.
  • The wider family tree. Details beyond Rose's immediate parents are not set out by KONAMI.
  • Any story DLC. None announced.

Sources and review scope

Names, relationships, descriptions and voice actors are KONAMI's own. The Netflix relationship is described by the publisher and repeated by media, and is presented here as a stated position rather than an in-game continuity fact. The Sonia Belmont discussion is community speculation and is labelled as such. Checked on October 16, 2026.

How this guide was checked

Checked on October 16, 2026 against KONAMI's official game site (product, character, demo and known-issues pages), the Steam store listing and the public Steam Web API endpoints for this app, and the PlayStation Store and Nintendo listings. KONAMI's own statements and store data are kept separate from third-party guides, which are labelled where they are used. Live figures such as review totals and aggregate scores are timestamped snapshots that keep moving. Anything no source states is written as unconfirmed rather than guessed.
