Terraria world seeds and the Skyblock seed explained
Understand the 1.4.5 seed menu, what each special seed does, and how the Skyblock start works.
Applies to: Special and secret seeds on 1.4.5
Quick answer
In 1.4.5 you choose special world seeds from a dedicated seed menu instead of typing a code, and multiple special seeds can now be combined in one world. Skyblock is one of the new seeds: you start on a single small floating island with a Shimmer island in the distance and build everything else yourself. The Zenith seed still cannot be enabled without also enabling every other special seed except Skyblock.

The seed menu
A world seed is a string of numbers that determines how a world generates. Two worlds made with the same seed come out almost identical, which is what lets players share a world by sharing a number.
1.4.5 changed how you use them. Instead of typing a code and hoping, the world creation screen now has a seed menu where special seeds are switched on and off as toggles. The menu also has a Randomize option that rolls a random combination.
What 1.4.5 added to seeds specifically:
- Special seeds can now be combined in a single world. Previously you got one at a time.
- Identical worlds can be created with special seeds active, so a combination can be shared reliably.
- Secret seeds were added, hidden until discovered, with a separate toggle menu added in 1.4.5.4 for the ones you have unlocked.
You can also copy a world’s seed at any time from the world selection screen, using the Copy Seed button.
Special seeds
There are nine special seeds plus Skyblock. Each one is stored as a number, and combined seeds add those numbers together — which is why combined seeds produce values like 73.
| Seed | Value | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Drunk World | 1 | World generation behaves as if it has been drinking. Both Corruption and Crimson can appear together. |
| Not the Bees | 2 | A world dominated by honey and bees. |
| For the Worthy | 4 | A deliberately harsher world with altered difficulty and generation. |
| Celebration Mk 10 | 8 | A tenth-anniversary world, loaded with party-themed generation and items. |
| The Constant | 16 | Don’t Starve Together rules, including persistent hunger and light-based danger. |
| Remix | 32 | An inverted world where the layout is turned upside down. |
| No Traps | 64 | A world with traps stripped out — as the description itself hedges, mostly. |
| Zenith | 128 | Combines every other special seed plus new additions. |
| Skyblock | 256 | Start on a small floating island with almost nothing. |
The exact player-facing descriptions are written by Re-Logic in the seed menu itself, and the effects are deliberately vague in places. Treat what each seed does as something to discover rather than a fixed feature list.
Skyblock
Skyblock is the new 1.4.5 seed most players search for, because it changes where you begin rather than how the terrain looks.
The official description is direct about it: you start on nothing but a small floating island, with a Shimmer island off in the distance, and it is up to you to build everything else.
What that means in practice:
- No ground. Almost everything you need has to be obtained from the island you start on, from the distant Shimmer island, or from what you can reach with what you build.
- The Shimmer island is your early lifeline. Shimmer transforms items, so the Shimmer and pylons page is effectively required reading before you start a Skyblock world.
- Progression still works, but slower. The boss route does not change; the gear you would normally mine for does.
Skyblock is the one special seed that Zenith does not force on, so it can be played alone or combined deliberately.
Zenith seed
Zenith combines every other special seed, which is why its value is never just 128. A Zenith world always has the value 255 — the sum of all the other special seeds — or 511 if Skyblock is also enabled.
Two consequences follow from that:
- You cannot switch it on partially. Toggling Zenith toggles every other special seed except Skyblock along with it.
- It inherits every other seed’s effects at once, plus additions of its own. That is why it is treated as the hardest way to play rather than simply another option.
If your goal is a normal run with one twist, Zenith is the wrong tool — that is what the individual toggles are for. The beginner progression page assumes a normal world.
Secret seeds
Secret seeds sit alongside the special seeds but are hidden until discovered. They are not listed in the seed menu at the start; once you have found at least one, a Secret Seeds entry appears showing which are active.
- They were introduced in 1.4.5, and the menu for toggling unlocked ones arrived in 1.4.5.4.
- Secret seeds appear in the seed string as plain text rather than as numbers, separated by vertical bars.
- Because they are discovered rather than documented up front, there is no complete official list in the way there is for special seeds.

The wiki is community-maintained rather than an official Re-Logic publication, and parts of its seed documentation are derived from game source code, which the wiki itself flags as potentially inaccurate for the current version. Seed effects are therefore described at the level the game states them rather than in detail.
