Hood Warfare 2 Progression and XP Explained

How Hood Warfare 2 progression works, what you unlock, and what the developer's patch notes say about the "my level reset" reports.

Quick answer

Matches earn reputation, and reputation levels you up to unlock weapons and equipment. Attachments come from weapon challenges, and kills with each gun unlock skins. If your level appears to have reset, the October 12 patch notes list "progression not properly showing on end of match sometimes" among the bugs that were fixed, so the common cause was a display problem rather than lost progress.

What you unlock

Progression in Hood Warfare 2 runs on reputation. The developer's description is short and worth quoting because it defines the whole system: "Build your reputation by playing matches and leveling up to unlock more weapons and equipment. Attachments are earned through weapon challenges, while kills with each gun unlock new skins."

The progression tracks

Three separate tracks move at once, and they are easy to confuse because only one of them is visible as your level.

  • Reputation level. Your account-wide level. It rises as you play matches and is the gate on weapons and equipment.
  • Weapon progress. Tracked per gun. Attachments come from challenges completed with that weapon, so progress on one gun does not carry to another.
  • Cosmetic unlocks. Skins are earned by getting kills with each weapon, which makes them a by-product of simply using a gun.

Because weapon progress is per-gun, switching weapons starts a fresh challenge set for that weapon while your reputation level stays where it was. That is the single most useful thing to understand about this system, and it is the part most often misread.

"My level reset"

Reports of levels being wiped were common in the launch week, and they are worth separating from what was actually happening. Players in the official Steam discussions describe levels dropping between sessions — one account describes reaching level 10, seeing the level fall to 7, then to 4 after a restart, and eventually landing back at level 1.

What is officially documented. The October 12 patch notes list "progression not properly showing on end of match sometimes" among the bugs fixed in version 1.0.10. That is a display fault: the end-of-match screen was not always showing progression correctly, which is exactly the symptom a player would read as lost progress.

What is not documented. The developer has published no statement confirming or denying that progress itself was ever lost, and no explanation of what caused the display fault. Any account of "server sync" or similar is not from an official source and is not repeated here as fact.

What to do if you see it.

  1. Update to 1.0.1.4 — the display fix shipped in 1.0.10, so anything older can still show the problem.
  2. Restart the game and check again. A display fault can resolve on reload without anything having been lost.
  3. If the level is still wrong afterwards, note the figure and the time, and report it — see the troubleshooting page for what to include.

Do not assume a wipe and start over. The documented fault was in what the game showed, not in what it stored.

Progression without a campaign

Hood Warfare 2 has no campaign, which is worth knowing if you are used to shooters where a story mode funds your early unlocks. Everything here comes from multiplayer matches, bot matches or both, and the developer has not published separate progression rules for bot play.

That makes bot matches a reasonable place to work on weapon challenges if you would rather not do it against other players, though whether bot matches count toward weapon progress in the same way is not something the developer has stated either way.

What is not published

  • The reputation curve — how much experience each level requires, and how many levels exist.
  • The unlock list per level: which weapon or equipment item arrives at which point.
  • Weapon challenge requirements for attachments.
  • Whether bot matches contribute to progression.
  • Any official confirmation that progress was ever lost, as opposed to displayed incorrectly.
  • Whether progression is stored locally, on a server, or both.

Sources and review scope

The unlock routes are quoted from the developer. The discrepancy between what players reported and what the patch notes document is stated explicitly rather than resolved, because no official explanation exists. The troubleshooting steps on this page are standard practice, not a developer-published procedure.
