Quick answer

Ellie reaches Abby but ultimately ends the cycle by letting her leave with Lev. Returning to an empty farmhouse, Ellie cannot play Joel’s song as before and leaves the guitar behind. The ending confirms her immediate choice; it does not confirm every detail of where she goes next.

Why Ellie lets Abby go

Ellie forces a final fight but stops before killing Abby. A memory of Joel interrupts the revenge pattern: killing Abby cannot restore him or finish the conversation Ellie lost. Letting Abby take Lev breaks the immediate cycle, even though it cannot undo the harm already caused.

The empty farmhouse

Dina and the child are gone when Ellie returns. The game does not explicitly show their destination or confirm Ellie’s next stop, so claims that the final scene proves a particular reunion go beyond what is shown.

What the guitar means

Ellie’s missing fingers prevent her from playing Joel’s song as before. Leaving the guitar behind can support readings about grief, memory and moving forward, but the game does not provide one narrated official interpretation.
