Planet Zoo 2 animals by biome: all 12 Zoopedia habitats
Open each launch biome to see every matching animal, then separate edition, enclosure and compatibility requirements.
Applies to: Launch roster · 12 Zoopedia biome tags · October 14, 2026
Quick answer
The launch Zoopedia uses 12 overlapping biome tags: six land biomes and six water or wetland biomes. The expandable lists below identify every animal attached to each tag; shared tags do not prove enclosure compatibility.

Use Zoopedia biome filters
Biome tags describe the environments attached to each launch Zoopedia entry. One animal can carry several tags, so the lists below overlap and must not be added together. Use the separate region filter when geography matters; a biome is an environment, not a continent.
Every launch animal grouped by biome
The 12 lists below cover all launch biome tags checked on October 14, 2026. Deluxe animals are labelled. Open a biome to see every matching species, then use the complete animal list to check its enclosure type and edition.

Land, water and wetland tags
Grassland, Tropical, Temperate, Desert, Taiga and Tundra are the six land-biome groups. Wetlands, Lakes and Rivers, Reef, Open Sea, Estuarine and Mangrove are the six water or wetland groups. An animal can appear in both kinds where its Zoopedia range supports them.
Plan a themed zoo
- Choose a biome and make a shortlist from the matching list above.
- Remove Deluxe animals if the account owns only the standard game.
- Separate Habitat, Aquarium, Aviary and Exhibit animals before laying out the zone.
- Check temperature, social group and space in the live Zoopedia entry.
- Confirm compatibility separately before mixing species.
Launch biome totals
| Land tag | Entries | Water or wetland tag | Entries |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grassland | 46 | Wetlands | 26 |
| Tropical | 40 | Reef | 24 |
| Temperate | 26 | Lakes and Rivers | 17 |
| Desert | 17 | Estuarine | 15 |
| Taiga | 14 | Open Sea | 14 |
| Tundra | 9 | Mangrove | 10 |
Biome is not compatibility
Two animals sharing Tropical or Wetlands can still need different enclosure types, temperatures, barriers and social structures. A common tag supports a visual theme; it does not prove the animals can share one enclosure.
