Dressmaker Platforms: Windows and macOS Now, Switch and Mobile Only Planned

Dressmaker ships on Windows and macOS. Switch and mobile are planned in the developer's own words but carry no date, PS5 and Xbox have never been announced, and Deck is Playable rather than Verified.

Quick answer

Dressmaker is available on Windows and macOS and on nothing else; Linux is not supported. Steam Deck is rated Playable rather than Verified, because three of Steam's five checks fail: control icons do not match, in-game text is hard to read, and the display output needs attention. Nintendo Switch and mobile are planned — the developer wrote "We're also planning mobile and Switch ports" — but there is no date, window or store page for either. PS5 and Xbox have never been mentioned by the developer or the publisher. There is no gamepad support in the current build; the developer calls it a high priority while saying the interface work has to come first.

At a glance

Dressmaker is on two platforms and has been announced for none of the others. The distinction that matters is between a platform the game is on and a platform the developer has said it is planning — and the strongest search demand around this game is aimed squarely at the second category.

Platform status for Dressmaker, from the Steam store listing and the developer's own announcements, checked October 19, 2026
PlatformStatusWhat that rests on
WindowsAvailable nowSteam platform flag; released September 21, 2026
macOSAvailable nowSteam platform flag; minimum spec lists Apple M1
LinuxNot supportedSteam platform flag reads false
Steam DeckPlayable, not VerifiedSteam's own compatibility report: three checks failed
Nintendo SwitchPlanned, no date"We're also planning mobile and Switch ports"
MobilePlanned, no dateSame sentence as above
PS5 / XboxNever mentionedAbsent from every official source reviewed
"Planned" is not "coming". The developer's wording is "planning", published on release day. It contains no date, no window, no price, and no statement that a console version would include the same content. This page will not manufacture a date out of that sentence, and neither should any other page you read.

The two platforms that exist

Dressmaker shipped on September 21, 2026 for Windows and macOS. That is the entire list, and it comes from the store's own platform flags rather than from marketing copy: the listing marks Windows and macOS as supported and Linux as not supported.

The macOS build is a real target rather than an afterthought — the minimum specification names Apple silicon directly, and the storage footprint is listed separately for each platform. The practical caveat is that a Mac build also means modifier keys need a Mac answer, which the October patch notes do not provide; that particular gap is covered on the controls page rather than here.

One thing this page can say with confidence about both builds: the developer describes the game as playable with a mouse alone, and Steam carries a "Mouse Only Option" category for it. That is unusual for a 3D game and it matters for laptops — the camera does not require a second input device in principle, even though the October patch added keyboard orbiting as an option.

System requirements: there is only a minimum

This is the part of the store listing most likely to disappoint someone looking for a recommendation, and it is worth stating plainly: Cozy Lives has published a minimum specification only. There is no recommended tier on the store page for either platform.

Published minimum specifications, quoted from the Steam store listing on October 19, 2026
ComponentWindowsmacOS
OSWindows 10 or laterNot listed
ProcessorIntel Core i5 or AMD RyzenApple M1
Memory8 GB RAM8 GB RAM
GraphicsIntel UHD 630 or betterNot listed
DirectXVersion 11Not applicable
Storage2 GB available space1 GB available space

Two details in that table are more informative than they look. The first is 2 GB of storage, which is small enough to suggest a download that is not asset-heavy, and it is a useful cross-check against anyone who claims the game is a huge install. The second is Intel UHD 630 or better — integrated graphics, which sets the floor low and is consistent with the game's visual style.

What a minimum-only listing cannot tell you. Without a recommended tier there is no official answer to "what do I need for a smooth experience at high settings", because the developer has not published one. A minimum spec describes the point below which it may not run, not the point above which it runs well. Any frame-rate expectation you read elsewhere is either measured by that site or invented; this page does not supply one. The patch notes do mention that some performance improvements were aimed at specific system configurations, which is a reminder that the floor is not uniform.

Switch and mobile: the official sentence, in full

This is the most-searched platform question in the whole keyword set, and the entire official answer is one sentence published in the release-day announcement:

"We're also planning mobile and Switch ports, which have been requested constantly on our various social media channels."
— Cozy Lives, "Dressmaker - Out Now!", September 21, 2026

Read that carefully, because its shape matters as much as its content. It is a statement of intent with a reason attached — the ports are being considered because people kept asking. It is not a schedule. There is no quarter, no year, no store page, no price and no confirmation that a port would carry the same content or the same saves.

What the Switch and mobile sentence does and does not establish
QuestionAnswer
Has a port been announced?Yes, as a plan — "planning mobile and Switch ports"
Is there a date or window? No
Is there a store page to wishlist? No
Will it cost the same? Not stated
Will it have the same content? Not stated
Is it still happening?Nothing has been published since to say otherwise

The last row is the honest limit of what can be checked. An announcement that says "planning" and is never mentioned again is neither confirmed nor cancelled, and this page does not upgrade it to the first or downgrade it to the second.

One related point deserves separating out, because it is often reported as if it were a port announcement: on the same day, in the same announcement, the developer described future content — a challenge mode where players compare designs and vote, and transparent fabrics that were not in the launch build. Those are additions to the existing PC game, not evidence of a console version. Anyone reading a 2026 article that blurs the two is reading a summary, not the source.

PS5 and Xbox: never announced, by anyone involved

PlayStation and Xbox do not appear in any official source reviewed for this page — not the store listing, not the press kit, not the release announcement, not the price announcement and not either patch note.

The reason this gets its own section is that "no Switch version" and "no console version" are different answers, and people search for both. Switch has a stated plan; PlayStation and Xbox do not have even that. If you are deciding whether to wait for a console release, the accurate position is that there is nothing to wait for — no announcement exists to wait on.

Steam Deck: Playable rather than Verified, and why

The developer's own words on the Deck are positive but careful:

"The game runs fast on the Steam Deck, but we want to give it proper controller support."

Steam's verdict is Playable. That badge is less useful than the individual checks behind it, so here they are in full, read from Steam's compatibility report for the app:

Steam Deck compatibility report for Dressmaker, read October 19, 2026
CheckResult
Default controller configuration fully functionalPassed
Default configuration is performantPassed
Controller glyphs match the Deck deviceFailed
Interface text is legibleFailed
Display output has no non-blocking issuesFailed

Those results explain the gap between "it runs fast" and "we want proper controller support" without contradiction. The build performs, and the default mapping functions — but the interface was not laid out for a small screen, the on-screen button prompts do not match Deck hardware, and there are display issues. For a game whose core activity is reading small style labels and aligning trim, "interface text is legible" failing is the one that matters most.

What this page cannot tell you is how a specific deck-verified community layout behaves, because those are player-created and change. What it can tell you is that no official Deck-specific layout exists yet.

Controller support: the current official position

The October patch states both the intent and the sequence, in one paragraph:

"Adding options for rebinding all the controls, and gamepad and other controls (e.g. Steamdeck) is a high priority for us and something we hope to get to soon. However, it makes the most sense to nail the UX first so that we aren't designing controls around poor interactions."

Three separate things are bundled in that sentence, and they are worth unpacking because they are usually reported as one:

  • Rebinding every control — remapping keys, which is a different feature from gamepad support.
  • Gamepad support — an actual controller layout.
  • Deck support — which the developer groups with generic gamepads rather than treating as its own problem.

All three are called high priority and none is scheduled. The stated reason is a design dependency, not a resourcing excuse: building a controller scheme on top of interactions the developer was in the middle of rewriting would mean designing twice.

Until that lands, keyboard and mouse is the only scheme the game has, and it changed substantially in the October patch. The controls page maps it scene by scene, including the rebindings that no longer match the guides written before Build 443.

The store metadata agrees with the developer's caution. Dressmaker's category list includes Mouse Only Option and contains neither "Full controller support" nor "Partial Controller Support" — the two fields Steam uses when a game declares controller backing. Valve's own test above says the default configuration works, so a gamepad is not unusable; it simply has not been claimed as a supported input method. For the actual bindings in each scene, see the controls page rather than this one.

What has not been announced

Collected in one place so it can be checked at a glance rather than inferred from absence:

  • Any date, window or quarter for the Switch port or the mobile port.
  • Any pricing for either port, or whether regional pricing would apply the same way.
  • Whether a port would share saves, achievements or content with the PC version.
  • Any PlayStation or Xbox version, plan or statement.
  • Any official controller layout, or a date for one.
  • Any statement about Linux or Proton compatibility — the store marks Linux unsupported and the developer has said nothing further, so there is no official position to report either way.

Two of those deserve a note. The Linux silence is genuinely a silence: unlike some studios, Cozy Lives has not published a "we do not support Proton" statement, so the store flag is the only official signal. And the ports have now gone unmentioned through two subsequent patch notes, which is not a cancellation but is also not momentum.

Sources and review scope

The platform flags and the minimum specifications on this page are quoted from the store's data rather than paraphrased. The Switch and mobile section rests on a single sentence, quoted in full, and this page deliberately stops where that sentence stops. No date has been inferred, no port has been described as imminent, and the PlayStation and Xbox position is reported as an absence of any statement rather than as a denial. No platform listed here was tested by running the game on it.

How this guide was checked

Checked on October 19, 2026 against the Steam store listing and the Steam Web API for app 4019220, the developer's own Steam announcements, the official press kit at freelives.net and the itch.io prototype page. Patch notes are quoted verbatim rather than summarised, and each quotation carries the build number and the date it was published. Player reports come from public Steam discussion threads and are labelled as player reports wherever they appear; they are never presented as developer statements, and they are never used to fill a gap the developer left open. Where a detail has not been published, the page says so instead of estimating it. No part of this game was played to produce this page.

Not independently play-tested. This is not a claim that every platform or game version was tested. Source review: Oct 19, 2026.
