Star Wars: Galactic Racer multiplayer modes and player count

Quick answer
Quick Race and Multiplayer Tour support up to 12 racers. Quick Podrace and Podracer Tour support up to 8. The game has no split-screen multiplayer.

Player limits depend on the vehicle mode
| Online mode | Maximum racers |
|---|---|
| Quick Race | 12 |
| Multiplayer Tour | 12 |
| Quick Podrace | 8 |
| Podracer Tour | 8 |
The developer separates the speeder and Podracer limits. A general “12-player multiplayer” summary therefore needs the exception: Podracer races top out at eight.
What happens when a race is not full?
The FAQ says empty racer slots can be filled by AI. Matchmaking first seeks an existing race with openings. If necessary, it starts a new race or Tour after enough distinct people are searching. Joining a Tour already in progress may initially put you in spectator mode, followed by the next race.
Region is preferred during matching, but the developer says it can match across regions when local players are unavailable. These are the documented rules, not a promise about queue times or connection quality.
Is there split-screen racing?
No. The developer states that the game does not support split-screen multiplayer. For a group on separate devices, see the crossplay and party guide.
