Hood Warfare 2 Player Count and Steam Charts

Live Hood Warfare 2 player numbers from the official Steam API, and why SteamDB, Steam Charts and other trackers show different totals.

Quick answer

At 12:37 on October 14, 2026 (UTC+8) the Steam API reported 9,406 people in Hood Warfare 2, after a reading of about 14,856 earlier the same day. The game carries 1,460 Steam reviews, 1,166 of them positive, which Steam labels Mostly Positive. When another tracker shows a different number, the cause is almost always the definition being used: live players, 24-hour peak and all-time peak are three different measurements, not three different truths.

Live count right now

At 12:37 on October 14, 2026 (UTC+8), the Steam Web API reported 9,406 players currently in Hood Warfare 2. That is a single reading of a number that moves constantly with time of day and week, so treat it as a data point rather than a fixed fact.

The same API endpoint, ISteamUserStats/GetNumberOfCurrentPlayers, is the only first-party source for this figure. It is the same endpoint every tracker uses; they differ in how they present it, not in where they get it.

This number is a snapshot. Player counts are collected at the moment of writing and go stale within hours. The trend, described below, matters more than the single figure.

Peaks and recent history

Two kinds of reading are worth separating. The first is what we recorded directly through the API during this check. The second is what third-party trackers reported earlier in the launch week.

The picture is a launch that kept climbing for its first week rather than peaking on day one. The earlier third-party figures are not directly comparable with our own readings, because a tracker's peak is the highest value it sampled, while our figure is a single instantaneous count.

Hood Warfare 2 launched on October 8, 2026. Steam reported 1,460 reviews at the time of this check, against roughly 288 for the 2023 original Hood Warfare, whose peak concurrent count over three years was well under a hundred.

Why trackers disagree

If you have looked at more than one site, you have probably seen three different numbers for the same game on the same day. Almost always this is a difference of definition, not of data.

Three different measurements that all get called "player count"
MeasurementWhat it actually counts
Current playersHow many clients are running the game at this instant. This is the number the official API returns.
24-hour peakThe highest current-players figure a tracker happened to sample in the last day. Its value depends on how often that tracker polls.
All-time peakThe highest value recorded since release. It never goes down, so a game in decline can still show a large all-time peak.

There is a fourth source of confusion. A running client is not the same as a player in a live match: someone sitting in a menu, an idle lobby, or a solo match against bots is counted. Player-run communities openly discuss these differences, and a thread titled "Player-Count is FAKE!!!" on the official Steam discussions is an example of a reader treating two different measurements as a contradiction when they are not.

The numbers are not fake. Sites that report different totals are usually describing different things. Only the API figure is first-party; everything else is a tracker's sampling of it.

What these numbers do not tell you

Concurrent counts are often read as a proxy for health, sales or staying power. They are none of those things directly.

  • Not sales. A concurrent figure counts sessions, not copies. A cheap game can show a high concurrent count on a small number of buyers who play it heavily.
  • Not retention. A single reading says nothing about how many of those players return next week.
  • Not a forecast. Nothing here predicts future numbers. Whether the launch curve holds is an open question, and this page does not guess at it.

Review totals

The Steam review summary at the time of writing is 1,460 reviews, 1,166 positive and 294 negative. Steam's own summary label for that split is Mostly Positive.

Positive1,166
Negative294

Two caveats apply to every review figure for this game. Review totals rise quickly during a launch window, so any number quoted in an article is likely out of date. And Steam's overall score keeps launch-week reviews in the total permanently, so a game that improves later can hold an overall label below its recent one. The patch notes and status page covers what has changed since launch.

Sources and review scope

The launch-week figures for October 11 and October 12 come from third-party tracker readings reported during that week rather than from our own sampling, and are labelled as such in the table. The comparison with the 2023 original uses the same public API endpoint for Hood Warfare. No future-player projection is offered anywhere on this page.

How this guide was checked

Checked on October 14, 2026 against the Steam store listing for Hood Warfare 2, the developer's own Steam announcements, and the Steam Web API. Live figures such as player counts, review totals and patch state change quickly and should be rechecked before you rely on them.
