Dimraeth P2P co-op and dedicated servers
Understand the official peer-to-peer hosting model and the current lack of dedicated or private servers.
Applies to: Official FAQ · current hosting statement
Quick answer
Dimraeth’s FAQ describes co-op as peer-to-peer: one player hosts the game for friends. It also says the game does not currently support dedicated or private servers, so do not buy hosting or follow a server-install guide for the current build.

Current server support
Dimraeth currently uses peer-to-peer online co-op: one player hosts the game for the group. Mudtek’s official FAQ also says dedicated servers and private servers are not currently supported. Do not rent a game server or install an unofficial server package on the assumption that it works with the present build.
| Feature | Current status | Practical consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Peer-to-peer host | Supported | A player must run the shared session. |
| Online co-op | Up to eight players | Choose a host before the group begins long-term world progress. |
| Dedicated server | Not currently supported | There is no official always-online server setup to configure. |
| Private server | Not currently supported | Use the current in-game joining options rather than a private-server guide. |
| Local split-screen | Not supported | Co-op is online, not shared-screen play. |
Choose the host deliberately
The world carries story progress, recruited allies and buildings, while each hero carries level, equipment, inventory, spells and personal progression between worlds. That makes the host-world choice more important than a temporary party leader: a regular group should build and advance in the same world when it wants one continuous shared state.
If joining or hosting fails
First confirm that everyone is running the same current build, then restart the session and test with a smaller party. Official patch notes have previously mentioned fixes involving joining large bases, client-side monster attacks and crafting queues, so a problem reported for an older patch may no longer behave the same way.
Those notes do not prove the cause of every connection issue. If the failure persists, record the game version, host, party size and the exact step that fails, then use the official Discord or Steam discussions for current support. Avoid treating generic port-forwarding advice as an official requirement unless Mudtek documents it.
Recheck after major updates
Server support can change during Early Access. This page describes the current official position, not a promise that dedicated hosting will never be added. Check the FAQ and official Steam news after a major networking update.
