Dragon's Dogma 2 Augments — useful unlocks by build and vocation
Pick six cross-vocation passives by the problem your build needs to solve, with source vocation and rank claims clearly qualified.
Applies to: Base-game Augment system · current maximum of six equipped · rank details from published guide data
Quick answer
Augments are passive bonuses learned through vocation ranks and DCP. Once learned, they can be equipped on other vocations, with up to six active at once. Choose them to fix a concrete limit—stamina, survivability, damage, carry weight or party support—rather than copying one universal list. The table below groups useful options by purpose and identifies their source vocation.

How to read this page: system rules are official. Named effects and rank numbers are from Game8’s guide table, reviewed October 15, 2026, and should be checked against the Vocation Guild before spending DCP on a patched build. This is a build chooser, not a claim that one six-Augment set is best for everyone.
Augments stay learned when you change vocation
Capcom defines Augments as passive functions that become available as vocation rank rises and are purchased with DCP. Once learned, they can be equipped without regard to the current vocation, and up to six can be active at once. Official Vocation Guild manual · Checked October 15, 2026.
That makes a short visit to another vocation useful even when you do not plan to keep playing it. Rank only as far as the passive your final build needs; then return to the vocation you actually enjoy.

Names, source vocations, ranks and effect summaries in this table are media data from Game8’s Augments list · Checked October 15, 2026. No hidden numeric percentage is inferred where the description only says “augments” or “slightly.”
Three ways to fill six slots
Travel and gathering
Thew + Endurance + Athleticism address weight, Stamina capacity and sprint cost. Fill the remaining slots with combat defenses appropriate to the region rather than leaving a fragile travel set unchanged for a boss.
Physical attacker
Verve + Lethality target physical output and weak points. Add Endurance when the chosen weapon drains Stamina quickly; add Mettle when taking hits interrupts the plan.
Magick or party support
Sagacity supports the Arisen’s Magick, while Sustainment and Ascendancy strengthen Pawns. Exaltation helps repeated casting, but its Rank 9 investment is larger than an early defensive unlock.
These are editorial starting frameworks, not measured maximum-damage builds. Actual value depends on weapon upgrades, party composition, enemy weaknesses and the current patch.
An efficient unlock order
- Pick the bottleneck first. If you run out of Stamina, unlock Endurance before chasing two separate damage bonuses.
- Take low-rank defenses cheaply. Mettle and Apotropaism are reported at Rank 2 and require less time than Rank 8–9 passives.
- Rank one late passive at a time. Keep the vocation equipped until the target rank appears, then buy the Augment with DCP.
- Equip it after changing back. Learned does not mean equipped; verify all six slots at a Vocation Guild.
- Use the DCP page for the loop. Build a repeatable DCP route rather than grinding an enemy that takes too long.
What remains patch-sensitive
The official manual confirms the six-slot limit and cross-vocation behavior, but it does not publish the complete English effect table or numeric modifiers on the page reviewed here. Game8’s ranks and descriptions are useful navigation data, not an official balance record. Check the displayed effect before purchase if Title Update 4.0 or Dark Arisen has changed the table.

Capcom’s web manual confirms that Augments unlock through vocation ranks and DCP, work across vocations and allow six equipped. Named effects and reported ranks are attributed to Game8 and require an in-game check if a patch changes them.
