Legacy Kollection on PC: requirements and settings
The official PC requirements, Steam Deck status, and the settings that matter for feel and performance.
Applies to: Windows build as of October 2026
Quick answer
The official minimum is Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i3-4100 or AMD A8-6600K, 8 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 460 or Radeon R7 250X, and 16 GB of storage. The build was Steam Deck Verified before release. On the PC side the settings that change how the game feels are the same display-level ones covered for consoles, chiefly VRR where the monitor supports it, plus the in-game options the 2026 updates added such as Fixed AI Difficulty.

Official requirements
The PC version is sold on Steam, and the listed minimum is modest by current standards because the emulated games are from the 1990s and early 2000s.
| Component | Minimum |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10, 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i3-4100 or AMD A8-6600K |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon R7 250X |
| Storage | 16 GB available space |
Two things are worth noting about that list. The 16 GB install is small next to modern fighting games, which is a real advantage if storage is tight. And the graphics requirement is old enough that integrated graphics on a modern laptop may still be the limiting factor, so the processor line is the one to compare against your own machine.
Steam Deck
Legacy Kollection was verified for Steam Deck before its release, which was confirmed in the run-up to launch. That verdict was reached on the launch build, however, and the game has since received several updates, including the addition of online rooms and crossplay.
Practically, the parts of the game most likely to be affected on a handheld are the ones that depend on a variable refresh display, since VRR support on Nintendo hardware is explicitly limited to handheld mode rather than docked. On a Steam Deck the same reasoning applies to the display’s refresh behaviour rather than to the game’s performance.

Settings that matter
There is no PC-only graphics menu that changes how the classic games play, because the emulation is the game. The settings that affect the experience are split between the display and the in-game options the updates added.
| Setting | Where | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| VRR / G-SYNC / FreeSync | Operating system or GPU control panel | The main lever on how the arcade games feel. On PC it is set through NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Adrenalin rather than in the game. |
| Fixed AI Difficulty | In game | Pins the AI difficulty from 0 to 9 for a whole run instead of letting it climb. Covered in detail on the AI and bosses page. |
| Training mode options | In game | Lets you set AI difficulty, swap sides and rewind, and skips the versus screen so a finishing move can be retried quickly. |
| Krossplay | Online Options, in game | Off by default. If you want to play against console players, this has to be switched on. |
When it will not run
Most PC launch failures on Steam follow the same short list, and the order below is worth keeping because it rules out the common causes before anything more invasive.
- Verify the game files. In Steam, open the game’s properties, go to Installed Files and verify the integrity of the files. A partial download is a common cause of a game that will not start.
- Check nothing is blocking the executable. Add the game folder as an exception in your antivirus, and confirm Windows SmartScreen is not holding the executable.
- Update the GPU driver. Old drivers are a frequent cause of a black screen on launch, and VRR support in particular depends on a reasonably current driver.
- Try windowed or borderless if it crashes when you alt-tab. Alt-tab crashes in full-screen exclusive mode are a long-standing pattern in titles of this type.
Similarly, on some of the older Mortal Kombat releases on Steam — particularly Mortal Kombat X — the common startup failure is a missing dll error, which is covered on the PC troubleshooting page for the wider series. The display-side performance questions for Legacy Kollection specifically are on the input lag page.

The requirements table and the platform information come from the official Steam listing. Steam Deck verification was reported ahead of launch and reflects the launch build; it has not been re-announced for the post-update builds. Troubleshooting steps in the final section are standard PC procedure rather than a developer-published list, and are presented as such.
