Final Fantasy Resonance Demo Walkthrough: Chapter 1 Route Notes

A carefully scoped Chapter 1 demo guide: what official sources confirm, what to record during play, and which route details still need in-game verification.

Quick answer

The official demo covers the opening through the end of Chapter 1 and is estimated at 3–5 hours. Official pre-release sources do not provide a verified room-by-room route, chest list, or boss strategy. This page identifies confirmed scope and the details that need an in-game pass before a route can be called complete.

Confirmed demo scope

The free demo covers the opening through the end of Chapter 1. Square Enix estimates approximately 3–5 hours. That is the publisher’s estimate, not a route time verified by this guide.

The official announcement describes the demo as a way to try the story and turn-based battle system. It does not publish a room-by-room route, treasure map, optional encounter list, or boss strategy. This page therefore sets the verified boundaries instead of presenting untested directions as a walkthrough.

Route details to verify in a playthrough

A complete route should be checked against the release version and record, at minimum:

  • Every named area and the point where the next objective becomes available.
  • Treasure chests, one-way exits, and any items that can be missed before leaving an area.
  • Optional battles, side objectives, and any changes after the first chapter’s ending.
  • Boss weaknesses, phase changes, and reliable strategies at more than one difficulty setting.
  • Which demo progress transfers and whether any decisions or rewards need separate claiming.

Until those checks are made, do not rely on unofficial route summaries for missables or exact directions.

Combat systems to watch

PlayStation’s official overview describes a battle timeline, a Stagger Gauge below enemy HP, extra turns after staggering an enemy, Vision-granted abilities, and Resonance attacks after a successful stagger sequence. These are system descriptions, not a tested strategy for a particular Chapter 1 boss.

For a first run, note which attacks are identified as weaknesses in-game and whether the timeline changes after a stagger. This guide does not supply numeric damage values or recommend an untested party setup.

When is the demo complete?

Square Enix defines the demo’s scope as the opening through the end of Chapter 1. The available announcement does not enumerate optional objectives or provide a completion checklist. For the official scope, use the chapter endpoint; do not treat the 3–5 hour estimate as a required timer.

Square Enix says demo save data can carry over to the full game. Nintendo separately warns that saves are incompatible between the Switch and Switch 2 editions.
