Rust Crossplay: PC, Console, Xbox, PlayStation, and Mobile
Understand which Rust editions share servers, what console crossplay means, and how to verify Rust Mobile availability in your region.
Applies to: Steam Rust, Rust Console Edition, and Rust Mobile
Quick answer
PC Rust on Steam and Rust Console Edition are separate products. Console official servers can be tagged CrossPlay, so Xbox and PlayStation players should confirm the tag on the server they join; this does not mean PC servers are shared. Rust Mobile is a separately licensed mobile adaptation, and its global release timing is not confirmed by the publisher’s current press listing; check the official store for your region.

Three separate Rust editions
| Edition | Platform / publisher | Server and progress note |
|---|---|---|
| Rust (PC) | Steam PC game by Facepunch Studios | Uses the PC Rust server ecosystem. |
| Rust Console Edition | PlayStation and Xbox edition developed and published by Double Eleven | Its official server list includes CrossPlay-tagged servers. Double Eleven says Xbox-to-PlayStation progress transfer is not supported. |
| Rust Mobile | Officially licensed mobile adaptation by Level Infinite with Facepunch | Separate mobile product; availability and testing can vary by region. |
Xbox and PlayStation crossplay
Double Eleven’s official server browser distinguishes servers with a CrossPlay tag. If friends are on different console families, look for that tag in the current console server list and make sure everyone selects the same server. The tag is a server property, not a promise that every console server supports crossplay.
Crossplay does not mean account progress transfers between platforms. Double Eleven’s FAQ specifically says progress transfer from Xbox to PlayStation is not supported.
PC and console servers
PC Rust and Rust Console Edition are separate editions with different publishers and server ecosystems. Facepunch’s game page identifies Console Edition as a Double Eleven product, and Double Eleven publishes its own console server list. The official sources reviewed here do not identify shared PC/console servers. Treat them as separate when arranging a group; a console “CrossPlay” label refers to the console server list, not Steam PC players. This conclusion is based on the separate official products and server listings.
Rust Mobile availability
Rust Mobile is not the Steam PC game running on a phone; it is a separately licensed adaptation. As of this review, the official Rust Mobile website still promotes pre-registration and Level Infinite’s press page lists the release date as “TBA.” Facepunch previously described a global release target for 2026, but a target is not confirmation that the worldwide launch has happened. Mobile app-store availability can differ by country, so check the official local store listing and the publisher’s current notices before installing or assuming a global release.
The official Google Play listing exists, but its presence alone does not establish availability in every country or confirm the global launch status. Do not enter account details on unofficial APK sites.
