Quest spoilers ahead. This is a walkthrough of the base-game rescue, not a Dark Arisen quest. Evidence below comes from published guide reports, reviewed October 15, 2026. The quest has not been replayed on the October 2026 update.

Trigger the quest — then treat it as urgent

Reach Checkpoint Rest Town and approach Morris’s Apothecary to trigger the conversation about his missing grandson, Rodge. PowerPyx lists reaching the town as the requirement. PowerPyx walkthrough · Checked October 15, 2026.

Time risk: published guides identify this as a timed quest. The practical choice is to rescue Rodge as soon as you accept it, without sleeping, waiting for night or fitting in another quest. The reviewed sources do not establish an exact countdown or its precise starting event. Do not rely on claims that you are guaranteed a particular number of days. Blue petals are easier to see at night, but deliberately waiting for darkness wastes rescue time.

Use the townspeople’s clues if you need direction

Neoseeker identifies these clue-givers: Timothy near the Sword & Staff Inn, Alsa by the well, and Jacint outside the Vocation Guild. Their clues point you east and toward the flowers. Where Rodge is: east of town, inside Putrid Cave

For a visual check of the town clues, cave approach and escort, ConCon’s 2024 walkthrough marks the rescue at 2:34. Use the written route below for the current advice; the video has not been retested on Title Update 4.0.

1. Leave Checkpoint Rest Town toward the east. Watch for blue Moonglow flowers and the trail of petals.
2. Continue beyond the flower area. Finding the flowers is a navigation clue, not the rescue objective. At night the petals glow.
3. Continue toward Putrid Cave beyond the roadside lake. PowerPyx places the cave just past the lake’s edge along the road. Use the cave name and local terrain together rather than treating the broad search zone as Rodge’s exact position.

Do not stop at the first wolves. GamesRadar describes an outer wolf-filled hollow and a green slope leading upward into a further cave opening. Search farther inside for the boy after clearing the approach. GamesRadar entrance walkthrough · Checked October 15, 2026.

Rescue Rodge and bring him all the way back

1. Kill the wolves attacking Rodge. Deal with the immediate threat inside the cave.
2. Confirm that Rodge is alive and following. Finding his location alone does not complete the escort objective.
3. Return to Morris’s shop with Rodge. Keep him nearby on the way back and stop to regroup if he falls behind.
4. Speak with Morris to finish. Check the quest’s completed state and reward instead of leaving after entering town.

Editorial safety check: before moving on, verify that Rodge is actually with you. A route cleared on the outward trip is not a reason to leave the escort behind.

Success, failure and rewards

Successful rewards agree across PowerPyx, GamesRadar and Neoseeker. The cloth and failed-rescue reward are reported by GamesRadar and Neoseeker. All checked October 15, 2026. Some guides spell the healing item “Roberant”; the reward is the same two-item entry they describe.

The quest can resolve after reporting Rodge’s death. A completed journal entry therefore does not by itself mean you rescued him. If you cannot find Rodge or finish the escort

I found flowers, but no boy.

Continue to Putrid Cave. The flower trail is a clue; PowerPyx places Rodge inside the cave, not at the flower patch. Route evidence · Checked October 15, 2026.

I killed wolves at the entrance, but Rodge is absent.

There is only torn cloth.

This matches the late-arrival outcome reported by GamesRadar. Collect it and return to Morris; do not present the result as a successful rescue. Failure evidence · Checked October 15, 2026.

Rodge stopped following.

Return to his last position and regroup. Neoseeker’s carrying suggestion may help awkward pathing, but no universal bug fix has been verified. Reported workaround · Checked October 15, 2026.

If none of these symptoms fits, a bug remains possible but unconfirmed. Record the platform, installed version and journal objective before seeking support. This page will be rechecked if Capcom changes quest timers, escort behavior, rewards or save mechanics.
