Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Known Issues and Fixes
The three problems KONAMI has confirmed, the official workarounds, the PC launch problems players report, and a safe order to try them in.

Quick answer
KONAMI has published a known-issues notice with three confirmed problems: the game may fail to launch on Steam and Xbox on PC when V-Sync is off and the frame rate is unlimited (with an official workaround), some Steam Deck UI elements can sit partly off-screen, and after saving, players whose system language is one of a few (mainly Arabic) may not get past the title screen until they switch the system language. Separately, players have reported black screens, stutter and menu scroll bugs on PC. Start with KONAMI's own steps, and if none apply, the official support form is the correct route — not a third-party fixer site.

At a glance
KONAMI has confirmed three issues in a known-issues notice, and two of them have official workarounds. Everything else circulating is player-reported. If your problem is not one of the three, the correct route is KONAMI's support form — not a third-party "fixer" site, and never a file you drop into the game folder.
| Issue | Platform | Workaround |
|---|---|---|
| Game may fail to launch with V-Sync off and FPS unlimited | Steam · Xbox on PC | Yes — see below |
| Some UI elements display partly off-screen | Steam Deck | None yet, under investigation |
| Can't pass the title screen after saving with certain system languages | PS5 · Xbox · Steam · Xbox on PC | Change system language temporarily |
The three confirmed issues
These are quoted from KONAMI's own notice, which also states that a patch is being prepared for all three.
- Won't launch on PC. "Game may fail to launch when V-Sync is turned OFF and FPS is set to Unlimited."
- Steam Deck UI. "Some UI elements may not display correctly" — certain elements can appear partially off-screen, and the team is investigating.
- Language lock at the title screen. Players using some system languages — "mainly Arabic" — may not get past the title page after saving and quitting to the title.
Won't launch: the V-Sync fix
KONAMI's official steps are specific, and the first one is counter-intuitive but harmless. Follow them in this order:
- Lower your monitor's refresh rate in Windows to below 60Hz.
- Launch the game and choose Settings from the title screen.
- Under Video Settings, turn V-Sync ON, then close the game.
- Restore your monitor's refresh rate to its original setting.
- The game should now launch and play normally.
If it still will not launch after several attempts, KONAMI directs you to contact Customer Support rather than to keep changing settings.
What players report
Beyond the three confirmed issues, PC players have reported black screens on boot, stutter, menu and map scrolling bugs, a persistent mouse cursor and ghost input, and having to change resolution and refresh rate on each launch. These are player reports from the launch window, not publisher statements, and they vary enormously by machine — some players report none of them. They are listed here so you can recognise a known pattern, not as confirmed defects.
A safe order to try
- Check KONAMI's workaround first if you are on PC and the game will not start — it is the one with official steps.
- Update the game to the latest patch before anything else.
- Verify the game files through the store client, and update your GPU driver.
- Change one thing at a time and note what you changed, so you can undo it.
- Contact KONAMI support with your platform, the exact symptom, and what you already tried.
Do not install trainers, modified files or "fix" executables — none of that is described or recommended anywhere here, and it trades a supportable problem for an unsupportable one.
What is not official
Only the three entries in the table above come from KONAMI. The list of player-reported symptoms is third-party and unverified, the "safe order" is this site's suggested sequence rather than a publisher procedure, and there is no published patch date. Treat anything claiming a guaranteed fix as a claim, not a fact.
